Subscription Management¶
Subscriptions are the central unit in WebPanel. Each subscription connects a customer with a hosting package and contains a primary domain, a Linux user, and resource quotas.
Overview¶
The subscription table shows all hosting accounts with search, sorting, and pagination.
Displayed Columns¶
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Customer | Customer name and email |
| Package | Assigned hosting package |
| Primary Domain | Primary domain of the subscription |
| Status | Active, Suspended, or Expired |
| Server | Assigned server (in multi-server setups) |
| Sites | Number of websites |
| Domains | Number of domains |
| Created | Creation date |
| Expiry | Expiration date (if set) |
Create Subscription¶
Creation is done through a multi-step wizard:
Step 1: Customer and Package¶
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Customer | Yes | Select from the customer list |
| Package | Yes | Select a hosting package |
| Server | Yes | Target server (suggested by load) |
Server Suggestion
The system automatically suggests the server with the lowest load. The evaluation considers CPU, RAM, disk, and account count.
Step 2: Domain¶
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Domain | Yes | The primary domain of the subscription (e.g. example.com) |
Step 3: Confirmation¶
- Summary of all settings
- Click Create
The system automatically sets up:
- Linux user with their own home directory
- PHP-FPM pool under the user
- Nginx vhost configuration
- DNS zone (if PowerDNS is active)
- SSL certificate (if Let's Encrypt is enabled)
- systemd slice for resource limiting
Subscription Details¶
Click on a subscription to open the detail view:
General Information¶
- Package name, Linux username, home directory
- Primary domain, status, creation and expiration date
Resource Usage¶
| Resource | Display |
|---|---|
| Sites | Used / Maximum |
| Domains | Used / Maximum |
| Databases | Used / Maximum |
| Mailboxes | Used / Maximum |
| FTP Accounts | Used / Maximum |
| Cron Jobs | Used / Maximum |
Resource usage & throttling¶
In addition to the object counts, the detail view shows the subscription's live resource usage against the package limits:
| Resource | Display |
|---|---|
| CPU | Current usage against the CPU quota |
| Memory | Current RAM usage against the RAM limit |
| I/O | Current read/write rate against the I/O limits |
| Tasks | Current process count against the task limit |
When a subscription is actively hitting its cgroup CPU, RAM or I/O limits, a red "throttled" badge appears.
Only on sustained throttling
A throttle notification only fires on sustained throttling (~30 minutes) — brief spikes do not raise an alarm.
Resource Limits¶
Advanced limits can be configured through the edit dialog:
| Limit | Description |
|---|---|
| CPU Quota (%) | Maximum CPU usage in percent |
| Memory (MB) | Maximum RAM |
| I/O Read (Bytes/s) | Maximum read rate |
| I/O Write (Bytes/s) | Maximum write rate |
| Max Tasks | Maximum number of processes |
Suspend Subscription¶
- Click the Suspend icon in the action column
- Confirm the suspension
Effects:
- All websites show a suspension page
- FTP access is blocked
- Panel access remains restricted for the customer
- Email reception remains active
Reactivate Subscription¶
- Click the Reactivate icon for a suspended subscription
- All services are restored
Delete Subscription¶
- Click the Delete icon
- Enter the domain name for confirmation
- Confirm the deletion
Irreversible Deletion
When deleting a subscription, ALL associated data is removed: website files, databases, emails, DNS zones, SSL certificates, Linux users, and configurations. Create a backup beforehand.
Suspending is different: it never deletes files or the Linux user — deleting is always a separate, explicit action.
When the servers keep something¶
The panel deletes the database entries only once the servers have removed everything. If a server still holds parts (for example because its agent does not answer), the deletion stops and nothing is deleted in the panel database. The dialog "… could not be removed completely" lists under Not removed: what was left behind and offers:
- Try again — the safe way once the cause is fixed.
- Delete anyway — a separate button of its own, for administrators only. Only the panel entries are deleted; the listed leftovers stay on the server until you remove them under Repair → Orphaned leftovers. This cannot be undone. A reseller cannot force the deletion.
After a forced deletion the dialog "… deleted — leftovers remain" points out these leftovers explicitly and leads there with Open repair.
Package Upgrade¶
- Click the Upgrade icon in the action column
- Select the new package
- Confirm the upgrade
The system automatically adjusts:
- Resource quotas (disk, sites, domains, etc.)
- PHP-FPM worker count
- Permissions according to the new package
- systemd slice limits
Downgrade
A downgrade is possible as long as the current usage does not exceed the new limits.
Traffic¶
The traffic overview shows bandwidth consumption per subscription:
- Current month in GB
- Maximum traffic limit (if configured in the package)
- Warning when the configured threshold is exceeded
